Who we are
Face Stats is published by Make a Dent, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713. Write to us at contact@make-a-dent.com.
What we collect, and why
When you join the early-access list: your email address and the age band you pick, so we can send your result and compare your measurements with men your age. With it we keep where you came from (the UTM tags and the ad click id on the link), which version of the page you saw, and whether you were on iOS, Android or a computer (read from your browser).
While your scan is read, if you choose to answer: what you want from Face Stats, whether you would pay for the app, and the price you were shown. Skipping them changes nothing.
When you scan, and only if you tick the box: six photographs of your face from your front camera (straight on, smiling, and four turns of the head), the 478 landmark positions our software finds on the front and smiling ones, and your head pose in each. We measure the geometry of your face from them, work out your archetype, render you at your potential, and keep your report ready for the app. The box starts unticked, and the camera does not open until you tick it.
Optionally, if you tick the second box: your scan may also be used to improve our measurements. This is separate and off by default.
Photographs of your face and the geometry measured from them are biometric data under the GDPR (Article 9) and under US state biometric privacy laws. We process them only on the explicit consent you give by ticking the box, and for nothing else.
The OpenAI read
To pick your archetype and render you at your potential, we send OpenAI your straight-on photograph, once, with a fixed description of the six archetypes. Nothing else goes with it: not your email, not your age, not the other photographs. OpenAI ranks the archetypes for your face and edits your own photograph into you at your potential, changing only the levers of your archetype (grooming, skin, hair, fitness and the like). The image is labelled as simulated wherever it appears.
OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models unless the customer opts in, and we have not. It keeps abuse- monitoring logs of API requests for up to 30 days, unless the law requires longer.
Where it lives, and for how long
Your photographs and your image at your potential are stored on our own server volume, and your email, age band and measurements in our database. Your photographs are deleted twelve months after your last activity with us (a scan, a visit to your result, an email you open), or sooner the moment you ask. We do not sell any of it, and none of it is public unless you share it yourself.
If you share your result
“Share my result” makes the card you pick public at a link of its own. The card decides what goes out: the archetype card carries no photo; the scan, stats and potential cards carry your photograph (the potential card your image at your potential too). Anyone with a link sees its card and nothing else — never your email. Links are not indexed by search engines. You can turn sharing off on your result page at any time, which ends every link, and deleting your data does the same; a copy someone already saved is beyond our reach.
Analytics and advertising
PostHog (product analytics, hosted in the EU) records how the site is used so we can see where the funnel loses people: the pages and steps you reach, your device and browser, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address), and the answers above if you give them. It sets a cookie and a random id in your browser, and after you join, those events are linked to your early-access record. We do not send it your photographs.
The Meta Pixel and the Conversions API(Meta Platforms Ireland) tell Meta when someone who came from one of our ads views a page, joins the list or completes a scan, so we can measure and improve our ads. Meta receives your email address hashed (SHA-256, scrambled one way so it cannot be read back), your IP address and browser, the ad click id, and Meta’s own cookies on your browser. It never receives your photographs, your measurements or your archetype.
There is no cookie banner yet. Our ads run in the United States, Canada and Australia, and we rely on our legitimate interest in measuring our own site and ads for these tags. We will not run ads in the EU or the UK until we ask for your consent first.
Who else sees it
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Railway hosts our server and its storage.
- Vercel hosts this website.
- PostHog, for product analytics, as described above.
- Meta, for advertising measurement, as described above.
- OpenAI, for the read and the render, as described above.
Deleting your data
Every email we send has a “Delete my photo and data” link. It removes your photographs, your image at your potential, your measurements, your archetype and your email address from our servers, and stops every link we sent you from working, your share links included. To hear about the launch after that, join the list again. The analytics events above stay, keyed to an anonymous id with no email behind it. If you only want fewer emails, the same emails let you unsubscribe in one tap. You can also write to contact@make-a-dent.com to access, correct or delete anything we hold about you.
If you live in the United States
Some states, Illinois (BIPA), Texas and Washington among them, give you specific rights over biometric identifiers such as face geometry. We collect your photographs and the geometry measured from them only after your written consent (the box on the scan screen), only to measure your face, pick your archetype and render you at your potential, as set out above. We never sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from them, and we disclose them only to the providers named here, to do that work. We destroy them when that purpose is done, and at the latest twelve months after your last activity with us.
To have them deleted at any time, use the “Delete my photo and data” link in any email we sent you, or write to contact@make-a-dent.com from the address you joined with.
Who this is for
Face Stats is for men aged 18 and over. Picking an age band on the join screen is how you confirm that. If you are under 18, do not join, and write to us if you did so we can remove you.
